Göte Möbler was founded in Nässjö, the heart of Swedish furniture making, and became known for anatomical comfort and work with top-grade leather. In the 1970s its makers built pieces like this Carmen as true time capsules, a mid-century modern armchair with its original leather upholstery.
The leather has come through the decades with its natural softness intact and has gained the fine creases that only time gives. The frame follows Scandinavian restraint: solid wood on slim round legs set at a slight angle. The wood has been fully restored, which adds contrast and freshens the model without overriding its history.
The reclined back and deep seat give an anatomically correct sit, and the wide armrests are fully wrapped in leather. The upholstery is quilted capitonné with covered buttons, creating a soft relief across the cushions, in a warm and distinctive terracotta.
